We would like to thank everyone who sent their donation and those who were there with us.
With the total sponsorship of KC Healthy Cooking, an up and coming restaurant in Miami, Les Amis de la Place Dumas de Jérémie have organized a fund raising on December 3, 2016 at the restaurant to raise funds to distribute to 50 families hardly hit by hurricane Matthew. Each family to receive a gift of $50.00 along with a customized holiday card (see enclosed picture). Chef Jerry Dominique, one of the two brains behind the entire operation, - the other one happens to Astrel Surena - donated his restaurant, healthy food, and soft drink to more than 30 guests. Our friends, DJ James Salsa and Sorel Jacques with Kalbasse Troubadour provided the entertainment for the entire night (free donation).
So many friends responded to our cause. To date, we have collected a total of $3,621.53. Of that amount, $2,674.00 was transferred to Me. Chener Despeignes in Jérémie to distribute the Christmas gift to those families and $106.53 to print holiday cards and admittance tickets to the fundraising event. We have a balance of $ 841.00, which will be utilized toward our long range project, which is yet to be designated. Below, please find the complete list of the donors.
